Learning Objectives :

This workshop provides participants with a thorough understanding of biodesign principles and their application in architecture by combining theoretical exploration with hands-on activities. We will delve into the fascinating intricacies of biodesign patterns, which encapsulate nature’s ingenuity and serve as a blueprint for innovative design solutions, throughout the program.

Susmita Biswas:

Susmita Biswas Sathi is the pioneer of parametric and coded architecture in her country, Bangladesh. She has gained entrepreneurial fame in parametric architecture and songwriting. She has been to many advanced-level workshops and given her keynote speech at many international conferences in China, India, and Bangladesh. She was selected as the most promising architect out of 10 at CAUP, Tongji University, in DigitalFUTURES Young series twice. She has gained three certifications in Computational Temple Design, Jazz Urbanism & Print Fast Pile High, a concern of robotic fabrication with Zaha Hadid Architects from DigitalFUTURES, Tongji University, Shanghai.She has been the instructor of digitalFTURES workshops since 2021 with experience in many practical projects using her pattern formula in 5 Star hotel designs and premium residences.

Michael Wickerson:

Michael Wickerson is an Associate Professor and former Chairman of sculpture at the Kansas City Art Institute. A graduate of the University of Waterloo and York University in Canada, he has exhibited internationally in North America and Europe, collaborating with architects, engineers, programmers, & designers. Recognized as an accomplished Python developer, Wickerson’s creative research incorporates mathematics, computer science, computational and parametric design, digital modeling, and programming as they relate to data visualization, machine learning, and robotics. Metal Casting Foundry, Rhino 3D Digital Modeling, Grasshopper Node Programming, Python Script Development, Creative Coding for AR, and Interests in Creative Robotics and ML.

Pijush Kumar Paul:

Pijush Kumar Paul is a pharmacist and works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at Gono Bishwabidyalay, a reputed private university in Bangladesh. He is an experienced scientist with expertise in drug delivery/formulation, nanotechnology, drug development, molecularly imprinted polymers, and lipid nanoparticles. Paul’s research background is extensively rooted in bioinspired materials constructed by the molecular imprinting technique. He obtained his Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences from Prince of Songkla University, Thailand. He did his postdoctoral training in the School of Pharmacy at Fudan University, affiliated with Tongji University. He has published a number of articles in high-impact journals.

Satyam Goel:

Satyam is a dedicated and passionate architecture student with a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for innovative design.  Satyam has developed a strong foundation in architectural theory, technological advances, and sustainable practices.  Satyam is proficient with software like Rhino, Grasshopper, and the Adobe suite and uses them to communicate his visionary ideas effectively. 

With a natural ability to think creatively and solve complex problems, Satyam consistently strives to push the boundaries of traditional design and explore new possibilities. Embracing a mindset of continuous evolution, Satyam aspires to transcend limitations and grow exponentially every day.
