Description:

The proposed workshop, “Introducing Interactive Architecture,” will provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to the field of interactive architecture. Over three sessions, participants will explore the theoretical and practical aspects of integrating technology and responsiveness into built environments.

Detailed Schedule :

Day 1: 07/24 | 12:30 – 15:30 EST | Foundations of Interactive Architecture

  • Introduction to interactive and kinetic architecture concepts;
  • Exploration of various kinetic mechanisms;
  • Introduction to the Arduino platform for interactive design;
  • Familiarization with Arduino coding syntax, functions, and instructions.

Day 2: 07/26 | 12:30 – 15:30 EST | Sensors, Motors, and Programming

  • In-depth exploration of sensors and motors used in interactive installations;
  • Introduction to sensor and motor coding with Arduino;
  • Hands-on exercises to program basic sensor and motor interactions.

Day 3: 07/28 | 12:30 – 15:30 EST | Advanced Interactive Design with Firefly

  • Introduction to the Firefly plugin for Grasshopper in Rhino;
  • Utilizing Firefly to integrate sensor data and control servo motors;
  • Project development and experimentation with interactive design principles;
  • Q&A session to address participant queries and foster discussion.
