Description:
The proposed workshop, “Introducing Interactive Architecture,” will provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to the field of interactive architecture. Over three sessions, participants will explore the theoretical and practical aspects of integrating technology and responsiveness into built environments.
Detailed Schedule :
Day 1: 07/24 | 12:30 – 15:30 EST | Foundations of Interactive Architecture
- Introduction to interactive and kinetic architecture concepts;
- Exploration of various kinetic mechanisms;
- Introduction to the Arduino platform for interactive design;
- Familiarization with Arduino coding syntax, functions, and instructions.
Day 2: 07/26 | 12:30 – 15:30 EST | Sensors, Motors, and Programming
- In-depth exploration of sensors and motors used in interactive installations;
- Introduction to sensor and motor coding with Arduino;
- Hands-on exercises to program basic sensor and motor interactions.
Day 3: 07/28 | 12:30 – 15:30 EST | Advanced Interactive Design with Firefly
- Introduction to the Firefly plugin for Grasshopper in Rhino;
- Utilizing Firefly to integrate sensor data and control servo motors;
- Project development and experimentation with interactive design principles;
- Q&A session to address participant queries and foster discussion.
Yahya Amirinejad:
I am Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant at the Iran University of Science and Technology with two years of experience. I hold a Master’s degree in Interior Architecture and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. I have previously lectured in two interactive architecture workshops at the University of Tehran. My Master’s thesis focused on designing technology-integrated kindergartens for autistic children.
